Forrest Tenders
They brushed their tails
Along wooded bark
Claws digging in
Supple green spring
Bounces rippled the space
Destined for their cobalt eyes
For their ivory white fangs
And their target
Combat pursuit engaged
A fresh new juicy tip
Paws sink in along iridescent
Pine bark
Spanish moss hanging wistfully nearby
Watching
Teeth begin mawing
A biological chainsaw
sunlight, earth and water powered
The same fuel of its target
Half way thru
Two thirds...
Drop
Plummeting 76 feet to the straw-Laiden matt
A bailarina in her green tutu
Spirals down flipping like a high-diver
As she makes her gravitational descent
Softly to the forrest floor
Paloooshhh
Landed
The Forrest Tender
Secured many meals
For its offspring
Next spring
